NORTH NEWTON, Kan. — Bethel football dropped its home contest Friday night, falling 38-7 to RV Kansas Wesleyan at Thresher Stadium.
The Threshers found early momentum in the second quarter when quarterback Houston Herrin capped a six-play, 53-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run to even the score at 7-7. But Kansas Wesleyan responded with two quick touchdowns before halftime and never looked back.
Offensively, Bethel finished with 172 total yards, including 122 through the air. Herrin led the ground game with 49 rushing yards and a score, while receiver Josiah Buller hauled in five passes for 76 yards, including a 40-yard grab that set up the Threshers' lone touchdown.
On defense, Amerdid Marial and John Saxton each tallied seven tackles to lead the way, while Avery Richardson added seven of his own. Gavin Patton chipped in six stops, including one tackle for loss.
Bethel (0-4) now turns its focus to the road, traveling to Saint Mary on Saturday, Sept. 27, with kickoff set for 1 p.m.
