Bethel Softball Sets Program Record, Sweeps Hesston in Doubleheader

HESSTON, Kan. — The Bethel College softball team delivered a historic and composed performance on Thursday, sweeping Hesston College in a doubleheader that featured a record-setting offensive display in game one and an extra-inning victory in the nightcap

Game One: Record-Breaking Offensive Performance

Bethel opened the afternoon with a dominant 21–3 victory, establishing a new program record for runs scored in a single game.

The Threshers recorded 18 hits and scored in five different innings, highlighted by an 11-run seventh inning that put the contest out of reach. The offense was balanced throughout the lineup, with multiple players contributing multi-hit efforts.

Senior Sadie Jensen led the charge at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with four runs scored and three RBI. Senior Madison Gonzales added four hits and four RBI, including a bases-clearing double that broke the game open early. Sophomore Kailey Sandoval crossed the plate three times and drove in two runs, while Alohilani Mundon and Kenzi Young each provided key hits during critical stretches.

In the circle, senior Emma Killingsworth earned the win after pitching six solid innings. Sophomore Mya Morris closed out the final inning to secure the victory.

Game Two: Extra-Inning Composure

The second game of the doubleheader required patience and execution.

After seven innings of tightly contested play left the score tied at 1–1, Bethel responded with two runs in the top of the eighth to secure a 3–1 victory.

Pinch hitter Katelynn Quidato delivered the decisive hit, driving in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning. Additional pressure on the bases led to an insurance run, providing enough cushion for the Threshers to close out the win.

Junior pitcher Emma Figueroa was outstanding in the circle, tossing a complete-game eight-inning performance while allowing just one run. She worked efficiently through traffic and maintained control in key late-game situations.

Kenzi Young, Kaylee Linnebur, Cassie Albin, and Ashley Poe each recorded hits as Bethel executed situational offense when it mattered most.
