SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Bethel College Women's Tennis team picked up a big 5-2 victory over the Evangel Valor on Saturday afternoon.
The Threshers won at #1 and #3 doubles to earn the point advantage heading into the singles matches.
Daniela Herrera and
Fatima Nemi won 6-2 in the #1 slot. While
Nalea Payton and
Patricia Huerta won by the same score at #3.
Halle Krehbiel and
Grace Dawes dropped their match at #2 6-2.
Herrera continued her dominance at #1 singles picking up a pair of 6-2 victories over a All-KCAC Preseason selection in Chaney. Nemi dropped a third set tie breaker after winning the first 1-6, 6-2, 6-1. Krehbiel fell in a pair of 6-3 matches. Payton picked up a victory at #4 singles to put Bethel up 3-2 with two straight 6-1 victories. At #5 singles, Dawes won a three set tiebreaker 4-6, 6-3, 10-8.
Jenna Mahoney secured the victory for the Threshers with a pair of 6-2 victories as her match finished before Dawes'.
The Threshers will be back in action on Monday, March 27th as they travel North up I-135 to take on the Coyotes of Kansas Wesleyan with first serve slated for 3:00 PM.
