LINDSBORG, Kan. – The Bethel Threshers put together a strong showing at the KCAC Fall Individual Championships on Sept. 18-19, claiming singles titles in four of six flights.

Singles

Daniela Casique was untouchable at #1 singles, sweeping through the bracket with an 8-0 win over Evangel's Natalia Antkowiak, an 8-2 win over Sterling's Danna Arroyo, and a 6-1, 6-4 victory over University of Saint Mary's Juliana Jurado to take the title.

Sara Ladino went 2-1 at #2 singles, opening with dominant wins over Evangel's Hennessy Brown (8-0) and University of Saint Mary's Shannon Finn (8-4) before falling to McPherson's Jewel Henderson 7-6 (2), 6-3.

Ximena Raya claimed the #3 singles title, defeating Bethany's Inarie Rippert 8-4, University of Saint Mary's Sofia Prepo 8-4, and McPherson's Laureen Van Drunen 7-6 (2), 6-2 to finish unbeaten.

Olivia Goldsack went 2-1 at #4 singles, beating Bethany's Karee Adam 8-1 and McPherson's Chelsie Brown 8-1 before falling to Oklahoma Wesleyan's Oceane Frendjian 7-5, 6-3.

Jireh Gonzalez also finished 2-1 at #5 singles, topping Evangel's Erecka Penner 8-2 and McPherson's Eva Lesteluhu 8-1 before dropping a tight three-setter to Oklahoma Wesleyan's Yelena Sanchez, 7-6, 2-6, 10-8.

At #6 singles, Camila Lopez went 2-1, opening with an 8-4 win over Kansas Wesleyan's Kaitlyn Leis, falling 8-3 to McPherson's Maria Luisa de Lama, then closing with an 8-5 win over University of Saint Mary's Rowen Wiemers.

Doubles

Casique and Ladino opened #1 doubles with an 8-3 win over Evangel's Rachel Chaney/Maria Morgado, but dropped back-to-back matches — 8-3 to McPherson's Taimi Nashiku/Laureen Van Drunen and 8-6 to Kansas Wesleyan's Hayden Bellamy/Corina Salas — to finish 1-2.

Raya and Goldsack went unbeaten at #2 doubles, taking down Bethany's Elena Jundt/Meredith Denton 8-0, advancing by withdrawal over University of Saint Mary's Mia Rojas/Shannon Finn, and closing with an 8-2 win over McPherson's Chelsie Brown/Isabella Ellerbee to claim the flight.

At #3 doubles, Lopez and Gonzalez fell to Kansas Wesleyan's Rylee Frye/Peyton Chanley, 8-5.

Bethel claimed titles in four of six singles flights and one of three doubles flights, led by unbeaten runs from Casique, Raya, and the pairing of Raya and Goldsack in doubles.

The Threshers will be back in action September 25-28 for the ITA Regional held in Salina, Kan.
