NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Women's Tennis team dropped their first conference match of the season to the Southwestern Moundbuilders 4-3.
The first doubles match to finish was the #1 position where
Daniela Herrera and
Fatima Nemi made quick work of their opponents winning 6-1. The #3 squad was next to finish as
Nalea Payton and
Patricia Huerta fell 6-3.
Halle Krehbiel and
Grace Dawes won a back and forth tiebreaker to give Bethel the doubles point 7-6(10-8).
Herrera picked up a two set victory at #1 singles winning 6-2, 6-0. Nemi dropped a three set thriller. She lost the first set 6-4 before forcing a third set with a 6-4 victory and dropping the third 7-5. Krehbiel lost in two straight sets 6-2, 6-3. Payton also fell in two straight sets 6-3, 6-1.
Jenna Mahoney dropped her match in two sets falling 6-1, 7-5. Huerta was tied after two sets losing the first 6-1 and winning the second 6-3 before her opponent retired.
The Threshers will be back in action on Monday, April 3rd as they host the Friends Falcons for a rescheduled match with the doubles matches set to begin at 3:00 PM at Ward Tennis Center.
