KANSAS CITY, Kan. - In a weather impacted tournament that caused the hosts to cancel Friday and Saturday's contests, the Bethel College softball team dropped their two contests 6-1 to Benedictine and 16-1 to No. 11 Baker.

The first two full innings were a pitchers duel with a batter per inning reaching base safely. The Ravens broke the tie in the bottom of the third when their second batter of the inning ripped a triple and was brought in with a sacrifice bunt. With two outs in the fourth, the Threshers threatened for the first time all contest as
Claire Broxterman and
Madelaine Debs both came through with singles through the left side. After getting out of a jam in the bottom of the fourth, the Threshers evened the score in the top of the fifth when
Dakota Piovesan smacked a solo homerun to left center field. Benedictine took the lead back in the bottom half before striking for four in the bottom of the sixth to take the contest.

L 16-1 vs 11 Baker
Baker opened up the scoring in the top of the first with a three run shot. Bethel stranded two runs in the bottom half before the Wildcats struck for nine more runs in the second inning. Baker used two run shots in the fourth and fifth inning to add to their lead. The Threshers cracked the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth as they were trying to avoid the run rule. Emily DeMartino started things off with a leadoff single followed by a single by
Anna Northcutt. With two on and no outs,
Alexis Enslinger singled down the left field line wtih DeMartino scoring following an error by the left fielder. The next three batters struck out for BC as they stranded two runners in the inning.

The Threshers will be back in action on Friday, February 23rd as they host the Hastings Broncos for a doubleheader at Allen Wedel Field for their home opener. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
