WICHITA, Kan. - The Bethel College softball team dropped both games of their doubleheader with the Friends Falcons falling in game one 9-0 and game two 8-0, both in 5 innings.
The Falcons took the lead early in the game one with a two run homerun in the bottom of the first inning after the Threshers were sat down in order to begin the contest.
Both of Bethel's first two batters of the second frame reached base safely, but their next three weren't able to advance them past third base as they were stranded.
After Friends struck for seven runs in the fourth, the Threshers once again got multiple runners on base but weren't able to push anyone across the plate to avoid the run rule.Â
Game two once again saw the Falcons strike early in the contest as they put up four runs in the bottom of the first inning after the Threshers left the bases loaded in the top of the frame.
After escaping a bases loaded jam in the second inning Bethel was poised to strike again the third inning. However, they were once again unable get a runner all the way around, stranding two more runners on base.
The Falcons put up two runs in each of the third and fourth innings pushing their lead to 8-0.Â
With the Threshers backs against the wall, trying to avoid the second enforcement of the run rule, they were once again able to get two runners on but were unsuccessful in advancing them around the bases.
Bethel will be back in action on Wednesday, March 20th as they continue their road trip to begin KCAC play by taking on the Sterling Warriors with first pitch of game one slated for 3:00 PM.
