Softball falls in first KCAC home doubleheader

NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - After beginning their KCAC conference schedule with three straight road trips, the Bethel College softball team returned home for a pair of contests with the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles.

After the Eagles took a 1-0 lead following the first frame, Bethel answered with two runs in the bottom half on RBI singles from Dakota Piovesan and Claire Broxterman.

Oklahoma Wesleyan would tie the contest in the second inning before Bethel once again answered with more runs. This time the Threshers pushed across three runs on an RBI ground out from Meehlia Mendiola and back to back doubles from Piovesan and Ashleigh Bodine.

With Bethel leading 5-2, Oklahoma Wesleyan would manufacture runs in the fourth and fifth innings before pushing three runs across in the sixth and seventh innings.

Trailing 10-5, Bethel put forth their best efforts at a comeback but ultimately fell short 10-7.

Game two saw the Eagles jump out to an early 5-0 lead on seven hits in the first two frames.

Bethel put up their one run in the game on a Marissa Harrison solo shot to left center field.

Oklahoma Wesleyan put up four runs in the top of the sixth and held the Threshers scoreless to enforce the run rule ending the contest an inning short.

Bethel will be back in action on Tuesday, March 26th as they host Kansas Wesleyan with first pitch scheduled for 5:00 PM.
