McPHERSON, Kan. - The Bethel College softball team split their doubleheader with the McPherson Bulldgos winning game one 14-5 before dropping game two 11-8.
GAME ONE, W 14-5
The Threshers jumped on the Bulldogs early in game one pushing two runs across in the first inning and three in the second inning.
Ashleigh Bodine,
Taylor Sanfillippo,
Ella Caudill and
Dakota Piovesan drove in all of the runs for Bethel in the first two frames with Caudill recording two RBI. After McPherson got a run back in the bottom half of the second, Bethel answered right back with another run in the third as
Marissa Harrison drove in Sanfillippo. With the Threshers leading 6-1, they exploded for four runs in the fourth inning as Piovesan and Bodine each recorded another RBI and
Cassie Albin recorded two with single to right field. The Bulldogs answered back with four runs of their own, but Bethel wouldn't let them take all the momentum as they put responded with two runs in the fifth inning to take the 12-5 advantage into the latter frames. After a scoreless sixth inning for both teams, Bethel pushed their lead two more in the seventh before holding McPherson scoreless to take game one. Debs threw all seven innings giving up five runs, three earned on five hits while walking eight Bulldogs and striking out 12.

GAME TWO, L 11-8
The Threshers once again took the early advantage as
Alexis Enslinger and
Claire Broxterman both drove in runs to give BC the 2-0 lead after two innings. Neither team would score in the third before the Bethel blew the game wide open taking the 7-0 advantage with a five run fourth inning. The Threshers would add on another run in the top of the fifth, but the contest was all Bulldogs after that as they scored 11 unanswered runs with five in the fifth and 6 in the seventh to take game two 11-8.

The Threshers will be back in action on Saturday, April 6th as they host the Saint Mary Spires with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 PM at Allen Wedel Field.
