NORTH NEWTON, Kan. — Bethel College Women's Tennis came up short against Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday, falling 6-1 in KCAC play.
The match opened with doubles competition, where Bethel secured a point at No. 2 doubles behind a strong performance from Ximena Raya and Patty Huerta, who earned a 6-3 win. Despite that, Oklahoma Wesleyan claimed the other two doubles matches to take the early 1-0 lead heading into singles.
In singles play, Bethel found its lone win at the top of the lineup. Daniela Casique delivered a solid performance at No. 1 singles, earning a straight-set victory, 7-5, 6-4.
Oklahoma Wesleyan controlled the remainder of singles action, picking up wins at the No. 2 through No. 6 positions.
Even in the loss, Bethel showed competitiveness at the top of the lineup, highlighted by Casique's win and a strong doubles showing from Raya and Huerta.
With the result, Bethel now stands at 9-2 overall and 4-1 in KCAC play as the Threshers continue through conference competition.
Bethel will look to respond on Wednesday as they travel to take on Tabor.
