WICHITA, Kan. - The Bethel Threshers entered the KCAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed and were set to square off with the No. 6 seeded Swedes of Bethany College. The Threshers took the match 4-0 to advance to the KCAC Semifinals.
The Threshers picked up wins at #1 and #3 doubles to take the doubles point.
Daniela Herrera and
Fatima Nemi won at #1 doubles 6-1.
Nalea Payton and
Patricia Huerta picked up a 6-3 victory at #3 doubles to win the point. At the conclusion of the doubles point,
Halle Krehbiel and
Grace Dawes were trailing at #2 doubles 4-3.
Jenna Mahoney at #5 singles was the first to finish as she didn't drop a game winning 6-0, 6-0. Nemi was the second to finish at #2 singles as she won with a pair of 6-1 victories. Krehbiel, playing #3, also won her match with a pair of 6-1 victories to secure the contest 4-0 for the Threshers. At the conclusion of the match, Herrera was ahead a set and leading in the second set 6-3, 2-0. Payton was down a set, but leading in the second set 4-6, 2-1. Huerta was up two games to none at #6 singles when the match was clinched.
The Threshers will now move on to the KCAC Semifinals where they will take on the Ottawa Braves at 2 PM on Friday, April 25th at Kossover Tennis Complex in Topeka, Kan.
