No. 3 Threshers fall to No. 2 Braves in KCAC Semifinals

Box Score TOPEKA, Kan. - The No. 3 seeded Threshers took on the No. 2 seeded Ottawa Braves in the KCAC Semifinals at Kossover Tennis Complex. 

The Threshers dropped the doubles point to the Braves losing at #2 and #3 with #1 being unfinished. The third doubles match finished first as Nalea Payton and Patricia Huerta lost 6-3. Halle Krehbiel and Grace Dawes dropped their match at #2 doubles 6-4. Daniela Herrera and Fatima Nemi were trailing 4-3 at the conclusion of the doubles matches.

Krehbiel's match at #3 singles was the first to finish as she fell in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. Huerta was next to finish as she won at #6 singles 6-3, 6-1. Nemi finished third at #2 singles where she fell 6-2, 6-3. The final match to finish came at #5 singles where Jenna Mahoney fell to her opponent 6-4, 6-0. At the time of the match finishing, Herrera was up a set after winning the first 7-5, but was trailing in the second 5-1 at #1 and Payton was down 6-2, 6-5.

The Threshers finish the season 12-3, 7-2 in the KCAC and earn their first double digit win total since 2018. The Threshers also received their first NAIA National Poll vote since 2015 earlier this season.
