KEARNEY, Neb. - The Bethel College women's tennis team picked up a pair of wins to begin their spring season as they took on Doane and Hastings.
The Threshers opened the weekend with a 6-1 victory over Doane on Saturday. Bethel picked up the doubles point with a win at #2 doubles and a win by default at #3 doubles.
Daniela Casique played #1 singles for the Threshers were she fell in straight sets 6-3, 6-1.
Halle Krehbiel drop just one game on her way to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #2.
Grace Dawes, playing #3, won her match 6-2, 6-4.
Nalea Payton won at #4 6-0, 6-4.
Jenna Mahoney picked up the win at #5 singles 6-0, 6-3. While
Patricia Huerta won by default at #6 singles.
Bethel didn't drop a single match in Sunday's 7-0 victory over Hastings. The Threshers won all three doubles matches before recording the clean sweep in singles. Casique bounced back from her loss on Saturday with a three set victory 6-4, 4-6, 10-7. Krehbiel also needed three sets to win her match 4-6, 6-0, 10-4. Dawes made quick work of her opponent as she won 6-3, 6-1 at #3. Mahoney, moving up to #4 singles, won her match 6-0, 6-2. Huerta and
Charis Yager didn't have opponents to play as they won at #5 and #6 by default.
The Threshers will be back in action on Friday, March 1st as they host Ottawa Arizona and Midland with matches beginning at 10:00 AM.
