NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College women's tennis team hosted both Texas A&M Texarkana and John Brown last weekend. The Threshers fell to the Eagles 4-3 before defeating the Golden Eagles 6-1.
After having to move their match with TAMTU to Prairie Dunes Country Club due to rain, the Threshers struggled to win matches. They took the doubles point, but lost 4 of the six singles matches.
Bethel won at #1 doubles (
Daniela Casique and
Halle Krehbiel) 6-4 before also winning at #3 (
Grace Dawes and
Charis Yager) 6-1.
Nalea Payton and
Patricia Huerta fell at #2 6-4.Â
Dawes, at #2, and Payton, at #5, picked up the lone singles wins for BC as Grace won in three sets 5-7, 6-2 and 10-5. Nalea won her match 6-2, 6-3.
At #1, Casique fell in three sets 5-7, 6-1, 10-5. Krehbiel fell at #3 6-0, 6-1.
Jenna Mahoney dropped her match at #4 6-1, 7-5. Huerta fell in three at #6 6-3, 2-6, 12-10.
The Threshers got back on track on Saturday as they swept the doubles matches 6-1 at #1 and #3 and 6-2 at #2.
Casique fell at #1 6-4, 6-1. Dawes won with a pair of 6-3 sets. Krehbiel won 6-3, 6-1. Mahoney won 6-4, 6-3. Payton won 6-2, 6-0. And Huerta won 6-2, 6-3.
The Threshers will be back in action on Thursday, March 14th at 1:00 PM as they take on Our Lady of the Lakes in San Antonio, Texas.
