Women's Tennis Leaves Arizona 2-0

PHOENIX, Ariz. — The Bethel College women's tennis team wrapped up a strong Arizona trip last week, earning a pair of wins over Arizona Christian and OUAZ.


Bethel 4, Arizona Christian 3

The Threshers opened the trip with a tight 4-3 victory over Arizona Christian.

Bethel secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Daniela Casique and Sara Ladino dominated 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, while Patty Huerta and Ximena Raya earned a 6-4 win at No. 2.

In singles play, Bethel picked up three key victories. Casique battled to a three-set win at No. 1 singles, taking the final set 6-1. Ladino cruised at No. 2 with a straight-set win, and Raya added another straight-set victory at No. 3.

The Threshers claimed four total points to edge Arizona Christian and open the road swing with a win.


Bethel 6, OUAZ 1

Bethel followed that performance with a decisive 6-1 win over OUAZ.

The Threshers swept doubles play to take early control. Casique and Ladino won 6-3 at No. 1. Raya and Huerta secured a 6-2 win at No. 2. Kate Rowland and Grace Dawes completed the sweep with a 6-1 victory at No. 3.

In singles, Bethel won five of six matches. Ladino earned a straight-set win at No. 2. Raya delivered another strong performance at No. 3. Dawes, Huerta, and Jireh Gonzalez each secured straight-set victories at No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6.

The Threshers controlled the match from start to finish and closed the trip with a convincing team performance.


Bethel now returns home with momentum after back-to-back wins in Arizona with two home exhibitions this coming Tuesday against Barton and Cowley followed a home match on Saturday against Concorida at 2:00 PM
