Box Score 2 WINFIELD, Kan. - The Bethel College Women's Tennis team took part in the KCAC Fall Individual Championships hosted by Southwestern College. The Threshers brought home seven medals, five in singles and two in doubles.

Fatima Nemi, playing in the #1 singles spot, opened up with a first round victory over Sterling's Carlson 8-3. Nemi then dropped her quarterfinal match to the eventual champion Catherine Coe of Southwestern.
At #2 singles,
Daniela Herrera picked up a quarterfinal victory over Tabor's Yutzy 8-0. In her semifinal match Herrera took down Southwestern's Ochoa 8-5. Daniela took on McPherson's Chaney 6-1, 6-1 to win #2 singles.
Halle Krehbiel played in the #3 spot for the Threshers where she won her quarterfinal match 8-1 over Wrye from KWU. She then took on Federski of Evangel where she fell 8-6 to move into the third place match. Krehbiel won the third place match 8-6 over Sterling's Castro to pick up the second medal for Bethel.
Playing in the #4 spot,
Jenna Mahoney took care of her quarterfinal opponent Neel of Bethany easily as she took the match 8-0. Mahoney moved on to face Maples of McPherson in a match where Bethel came out on top 8-6. In the championship, Mahoney fell in a close match 2-6, 7-6(7-3), 10-3 to Southwestern's Hartnett.
Nalea Payton played #5 singles for the Threshers. She opened up the competition with a win against Friends' Ratts 8-1. Payton later fell to Southwestern's Roberts in the semifinals 8-1 to move into the third match. Nalea won her third place match 8-1 over Bethany's Sweat.
Patricia Huerta dominated at #6 singles picking up an 8-1 victory in the semifinals and a 6-1, 6-4 victory in the championship to bring home the Threshers second 1st place finish of the weekend.
Playing #1 doubles was the Threshers top two players from singles, Nemi and Herrera. The duo opened up with an 8-0 victory over KWU's Crowe and Nolan. In their semifinal match, the Bethel pair took down Southwestern's Coe and Ochoa. Trailing 7-4, the Threshers came rolling back to take the match 9-7 and move into the championship match. The Finals match saw the Thresher duo trailing 7-4 once again. Just like their previous match, Nemi and Herrera came roaring back to take the contest 9-8(10-8).
In #2 doubles, Krehbiel and Huerta picked up an 8-0 victory in their quarterfinals match. In the semifinals the Thresher pair faced off with Gregory and Piper from Bethany. The Swedes took the contest 8-4 forcing Bethel into the third place match. In their third place match, Krehbiel and Huerta toook on Maples and Hofer of McPherson. The Bulldogs came away with the medal as they took down the Thresher duo 8-5.
The #3 doubles duo of Mahoney and Payton saw success as they came away with a semifinal victory over Southwestern's Mitchell and Roberts 9-8(7-5) to move into the final. The Thresher duo came out of the championship bout victorious as they took down Peters and Taylor from Evangel 8-4 to bring home the seventh medal for BC on the weekend.
The Threshers will be back in action on Friday, Saturday and Sunday September 30th, October 1st and second as they compete in the ITA Regional in Salina, Kan.
