Thresher Athletics Hall of Fame
The 1955-1956 men's basketball team was the first Bethel team to win a KCAC Championship. They won the Moundridge, Phillips University, and Pre-season KCAC Tournaments on their way to an impressive 22-4 record. The then Greymaroons scored 1,899 points and held their opponents to 1,663 points. Their defensive average of 61.87 points allowed per game ranked eighth in the NAIA. They lost a best of three NAIA playoff series to then Pittsburg State College for a chance to go to the NAIA National Tournament. The team was coached by George Buhr. Milton Goering served as his assistant coach.
