David Morford played varsity football for Bethel College from 1976 to 1980 as a four-year starting center earning four athletic letters.  Morford overcame two serious knee injuries during his playing career, and was named Honorable Mention All-Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) in 1979 and was a unanimous All-KCAC First Team selection in 1980.  He was also named First Team Kodak All-American—College Division and Honorable Mention Associated Press Little All-American in 1980.  He was the first Bethel football player to be named First Team All-American and a Kodak All-American.  Morford attended free agent tryouts with the National Football League's Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Falcons in 1982.  As a player, David was involved in helping establish a host of offensive statistical records for the Threshers.  Morford graduated from Bethel in 1981 with a degree in health, physical education, and recreation.
