The 1972-73 men’s basketball team won the KCAC title and lost in the finals of the NAIA District 10 tournament to now-defunct Marymount College, finishing ahead of now NCAA Division II schools Washburn, Emporia State, Pittsburg State and Fort Hays State.
The team broke the 100-point barrier a number of times that season, before the 3-point shot. The Threshers scored 96 points in the final of the Mennonite Classic, winning the tournament for the third time to retire the trophy.
Several team members earned All-KCAC and all-district honors.
Team members included Danny Zerger, Kim Unruh, Brian Stucky, Rod Wedel, Delbert Peters, Fred Loganbill, Maynard Stucky, Ron Blanton, Dave Northrup, Jim Robb, Clint Okeson, Greg Schmidt and Greg Zerger. The team was coached by Bob Fairbanks, assisted by Buck Schiltz.
