Cynthia Alexander Doyle attended Bethel College from 1973 to 1977 where she was a pioneering member of Bethel's women's varsity athletic teams.  She was a four-year letter winner in volleyball and women's track, and also participated in women's basketball.  In volleyball, Cynthia was a member of three Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Championship volleyball teams, one Kansas Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (KAIAW) Championship team, and earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors her junior year and First Team All-Conference honors her senior year.  During her senior year, the volleyball team compiled a 26-0 regular season record without losing a single game.  In track, Cynthia won several individual conference championships and was a member of championship relay teams.  As a junior, Alexander qualified for the AIAW National Championships in Manhattan, Kan.  Following her senior year, she competed at the United States Track and Field Federation Outdoor Championships in Wichita, Kan.  Cynthia completed her track career holding all or part of 13 women's track and field records.  Four of those records still stand today including the 1,500-meter run, 800-meter run, the indoor high jump, and indoor mile run.  The AIAW did not have a system of national recognition at the time that Cynthia competed for Bethel; however, based on today's NAIA standards, she would have qualified for All-American and All-American Scholar Athlete honors.  Alexander graduated from Bethel in 1977 with a degree in health, physical education, and recreation.
