Thresher Athletics Hall of Fame
Lorene (Dick) Goering played basketball at Bethel from 1958 to 1961 where she was a member of the first intercollegiate women's basketball team at Bethel. The Threshers compiled a record of 27-1 during her playing career, including two undefeated seasons. Lorene was the team's leading scorer each year she played and finished her career averaging 20 points a game. Lorene was one of the first female basketball players in the area to utilize the jump shot. She graduated from George Peabody College for Teachers in 1963, and served on the faculty at Bethel from 1978 to 1999.
