Thresher Athletics Hall of Fame
The 1994-95 men’s tennis team finished the season undfeated in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference dual meet play. Bethel won every dual meet 9-0, dropping just one set in conference play.
The Threshers won the conference title and qualified for the NAIA National Tournament, where the team finished 17th, the highest national finish for a Bethel team. The team faced NCAA Division I Wichita State, NCAA Division II Washburn, Trinity University, Incarnate Word, Northwest Missouri State and junior college power Cowley College.
Jared Ward, Derek Dummermuth, Victor Gil, Wayne Hodgson and Chris Mitchell all were named first-team All-KCAC selections. Ward was named player of the year. His dad, coach Marty Ward, was named coach of the year.
Gil, Hodgson and Mitchell all won first-round matches. Gil became the first BC player to win in the second round. The teams of Ward and Gil and Dummermuth and Troy Broadhagen both won first-round matches in doubles.
